CONVERSATIONS: MY LOCKDOWN STORY.

Image
Six amazing individuals across various levels in the field of medical laboratory science come together to have a conversation about these uncertain times. Six questions answered by them takes us through their lockdown experiences. Q 1: The first question goes to you, what was your reaction and what did going home feel like when federal government asked all students to go home due to the pandemic? DANIEL: Okay. At first, I agreed with govt. It was a good idea to curtail the virus, but still going home felt somehow to me. I knew I'd go home to eat and rest well. A break from CMUL stress, but damn! I didn't want to leave school because, at home I'd be bored, broke, running errands! LIGHT!!! AARGH the transformer spoils weekly (laughs).

INTO THE WORLD OF VIRUSES AND MEN; CORRESPONDING CORONA

Image
SOURCE For the past eight weeks I've lived a recluse. The government's stay-at-home directive has made it so. As the introvertish type, being in reclusion is actually not a novelty (compared to the novel virus) for me. I socially isolate from time to time. Now however, there's a twist to it. Now, my social isolation is also a solitary confinement imposed upon me by the government. It is, now, both a free choice and a commandment, a desired duty.

DEAR CREATIVES, STAND YOUR GROUND!

Image
Dear creatives and business owners that do not know how to place value on what they do, what’s the problem? Is it that you’re unsure or you feel like you’re not worthy to have value? I ask this because I've heard and I've seen a whole professional graphic designer and a small business Enterprise owner beat themselves up in front of potential clients in order to seem humble. They stutter, they stammer and most of all, they are not always sure of how good they are.

Image
SOURCE H-pylori (Helicobacter pylori) is a gram-negative, microaerophilic(intolerant to high oxygen) bacterium. It is spiral shaped and previously known as campylobacter pylori. H-pylori is a gastroduodenal pathogen that lives in or on the lining of the stomach, It is a major cause of peptic ulcers. Before this bacterium was discovered, spicy foods, acidic foods, stress and lifestyle were considered as the major causes of ulcers, even after it’s discovering most people still believe stomach ulcers are mostly caused by acidic food.

LAB GUYS

I had gone for a retreat at one of the retreat centres around Surulere, I and a couple of other medical students from LUTH. One was a pharmacy student, another radiography and the remaining two, MBBS. We had just finished and were about to leave the centre when we encountered an old white lady. My guess is that she is from the Philippines. Quite a cheerful lady, and knowledgeable too. She had a thing or two to say about everything.
